Joe Pavelski scores with his chin for San Jose Sharks in Stanley Cup playoffs

San Jose Sharks captain Joe Pavelski opened his team's scoring in an unusual way, deflecting the puck in off his chin!

The Stanley Cup playoffs started this week, with 16 teams battling it out through a gauntlet of three opponents in their conference before a best-of-seven series with the winner of the opposite conference to lift the trophy in mid-to-late June.

The eventual champion will need a little luck along the way, and the Sharks got their playoff campaign off to a perfect start with a first-period power play goal by Pavelski in their Game One matchup with the Vegas Golden Knights - but their captain didn't know too much about it!

Brent Burns sent the puck goalward, but it was heading too high, until Pavelski turned it in with his chin.

It may have been painful, but it paid off, as the Sharks went on to win the game 5-2 to take the series lead.
