Adam Jones continued his recent fine form to help Baltimore edge Yankees

Adam Jones homered for the fourth time in five games as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the New York Yankees 4-3.

Orioles starter Miguel Gonzalez also struck out a career-high 10 batters in seven innings.

Scoring three runs in the seventh inning without recording a hit, the Boston Red Sox rallied for an 8-7 wild win over the Washington Nationals.

Boston erased a 7-5 deficit by scoring twice on two errors on the same play by Washington reliever Blake Treinen. A groundout by shortstop Brock Holt drove in the winning run.

Shane Greene pitched eight dominant innings as the Detroit Tigers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0, getting back on track a day after their season-opening six-game win streak ended.

The Pirates (3-5) managed just three singles off Greene (2-0) and two of them never left the infield.

The Cleveland Indians lost their starting pitcher two batters into the game, as Carlos Carrasco apparently avoided serious injury after getting hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of left fielder Melky Cabrera, and went on to lose 4-1 to the Chicago White Sox.

Carrasco was taken to a hospital and treated for a jaw contusion.

Catcher Robinson Chirinos drove in five runs to back another strong outing from starter Nick Martinez as the Texas Rangers routed the Los Angeles Angels 8-2.

Kendall Graveman rebounded from a rough debut and four relievers helped preserve the Oakland Athletics' 4-0 shutout over the Houston Astros.

Miami slugger Giancarlo Stanton was key in the Marlins' 8-2 win over the Atlanta Braves while New York Mets right-hander Matt Harvey tossed six innings and first baseman Lucas Duda delivered a three-run double in the second inning that gave the Mets the lead for good in their win 6-5 over Philadelphia.

The Mets have won three straight while the Phillies have dropped three in a row.

Steven Souza Jr hit a long home run in the first inning, then scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly in the eighth after bunting for a single, and the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2.

Tampa Bay took the opening two games of the four-game series to run its winning streak to four.

Anthony DeSclafani struck out five and allowed just two hits while the Cincinnati Reds held off a late Chicago Cubs rally to win 3-2.

Howie Kendrick lifted the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 6-5 victory over the Seattle Mariners while Odrisamer Despaigne held Arizona to one run on two hits over seven innings and left fielder Justin Upton hit a home run as the San Diego Padres defeated the Diamondbacks 5-1.

The Colorado Rockies silenced the San Francisco Giants bats for the second game in a row, extending the Giants' scoreless streak at home to 16 innings with a 4-1 victory.
